AND WE'RE BACK!

its been a while. but as boredom settles in again, there's time to update the magnificent blog. so.. here's a long awaited picture of the project of the week way back when...

yes, sir, its the bathing suit. 100% hand made. its got its imperfections, but since i won't be wearing it in icy Paris, any changes will have to wait till next summer.

and so now, after adding 2 more patches to my traveling backpack:

and expanding my portuguese vocabulary to more than "puta baca", i've settled down to my same old granny self.

and no.. i am not yet taking requests for christmas presents, still planning on making myself a skirt, a pair of shorts, maybe another dress, who knows, the summer is long in the countryside!

RIP buddy

Early this morning, at 1:15 am on Friday 13th of June, 2008, our dear friend Buddy died. Buddy was not only an accessory in a very cluttered room, but also a companion, someone/thing who understood what i and sometimes others were going through. He was a fantastic listener, never giving any wrong advice.

Buddy, you stayed with us throughout the majority of our erasmus experience, i wish you could have made it to the end, but the goodbyes may have been too difficult for your small fragile heart. I wish you well in fish-heaven.

happy birthday sofia!

on friday we celebrated sofias 21st birthday. The dinner, the party, the company, the presents, the cake, the drinks, the music.. everything was amazing. So much emotion and love in the air for one very special birthday girl. hope you had as much fun as we did!!!

and now for some contemporary spanish culture. this videos a classic, and those who understand a bit of spanish, get a kick out of watching it over and over again (aka us, the erasmus kids)..

so being as its the end of the year and we're all busy with projects and exams and summer plans, we took a pause and created our own. Yay for procrastination/boredom/delirium/whatever can explain what went through our mind when we decided to do this. and a thank you to those who made this memorable erasmus artifact possible.

internship update

so i didnt get the dries van noten internship.. booo. next opportunity might be with Baccarat, world reknowned french crystal. famous for their chandeliers.. see below.

summer's here!

its time to make the long awaited bathing suit! i've got the fabric, and i've imagined up a pattern. all i need now is the time to create it all. hopefully i'll wear it at least once before my return to paris, otherwise it'll be sitting in my closet for a very long time.. and if you wanna make one too... check out this video (skip ahead to the middle of the video for the instructions). all you need is a t-shirt. :)

Congratulations

wake up at 3 am, flight at 6 am, metro strikes, and lots of waiting, ceremony and champagne, eating (lots of eating) and drinking (lots of drinking)... so is spent a day celebrating the graduation of maria ciocanelea. school can be long, boring, tough, and lots more, but knowing that youve successfully accomplished it all is quite rewarding. three hard years of studying, learning, and growing were celebrated on may 22 with the ones who are the most proud of you.

congratulations maria. good luck in london. make us proud!

and as a side note.. that previous project of the week was for her!

trying new things

it was a day of pouring rain. A day with little importance at all. And especially a day without motivation. but with some encouragement and persistence, i was convinced to leave the confines of my apartment. the original plan was to defy all conventions and sing along to jarabe de palo live in the pouring rain. luck was on my side when the concert was moved indoors. there i discovered a new band, one cherished by catalans worldwide and even a great majority of the spanish speaking world. i too, now, am part of this community. thanks chica.

project of the week

summer internship

i might have an opportunity for an internship with dries van noten this summer in paris. to have a better idea, and to inform you all, here are a few of his latest collections. Hes not the most feminine designer, but works more with form, volume, give great importance to fabric, and occasionally works with patterns. the interview is scheduled for may 23rd. so keep an eye out for updates.
